Festival FAQ
General Details
The festival is held in the Vietnam Veterans Pavilion in Schenley Park. The event is free, donations gladly accepted. Food and drink is available for purchase. On friday the music will start at 7 pm (following fundraiser) and on Saturday at 1pm.
Is Pittonkatonk open to the public?
Yes the event is open to the public except for the Cevapi fundraiser party that is ticketed on Friday May 9th from 5pm – 7pm.
Parking and Transportation
Parking around Schenley Park is free but limited. We strongly encourage Ride share, carpool, public transportation and biking. Bike racks are available, bikes must be removed by the end of the event.
How to get there?
For 2025, there are a lot of detours and construction to be aware of. We strongly suggest coming from Squirrel Hill/Greenfield and turning onto Panther Hollow Road. The bridges are out from Oakland and Phipps Conservatory.
What to bring
Reusable water bottle, blanket or camp chair for the lawn area, sunscreen, umbrella, raincoat, sweatshirt, ear plugs, valid ID.
What if it rains?
The event is rain or shine. Come prepared. It rains almost every year.
Can i bring my dog/pet?
We can’t control people bringing their dogs or pets, but it is not encouraged. There will be loud music and a lot of people. I can’t imagine they would enjoy this experience, and i dont think you would enjoy it either.

Testimonials
Here what participants are saying
Pittonkatonk is more than just the annual picnic; it also does educational outreach year-round in the Sto-Rox school district and elsewhere. But the picnic is its keynote event, last year drawing a crowd estimated at about 3,000.
Authentic and grassroots, Pittonkatonk erases boundaries between performers and attendees, which means there are no stages, green rooms, tickets or corporate sponsors. Sounds representing West Africa, Chicago, Providence and more will fill the pavilion and spill into the park actively engaging listeners in live performance. It’s uplifting to see, hear, and be a part of.
